What is the best airline to go to Europe?

That is not and easy question! Lets say your have no restrictions money wise. Then any airline that offers a first or business class on a fairly new aircraft will do. Leaving from north America you second concern may be security. In today’s market where economy dictates low maintenance and low wages you may avoid discount airlines although they also have to comply to minimum security and maintenance. But if a low price is your objective most of them will give a relatively good service. On the next level of prices you will find the major airlines. Usually they will offer a better service on ground and in the air as well as a good reputation on maintenance.

Prices are usually lower if you leave from the US and transit via Canada. It is a common believe that the major airlines based in Canada are offering “better secured” flight, better food and inflight service. The same goes for major European airlines offering flight from America to Europe. So a good choice could be a multiple airline itinerary. For example a New York, Montreal to Paris with a US carrier then a Canadian carrier and returning from Europe to New york with an European carrier.

Sounds complicated? No, just go on any booking site, set you destination and allow for multiple stops and you will get the best available price on the multi-airlines ticket.

Next thing to watch for on choosing an airline is to read the papers and see that your ticket was not booked on a segment with an airline that may go on strike during you planned trip. In case of a strike the airline will make arrangements for the passengers to be protected on other airlines. But that is not a guaranty to be travelling on your schedules day. In fact other airlines will only overbook to a certain limit and you may end up on standby for several days. So, better make sure there in no strike in the air!

One last thing, on making your reservations, insist on having more then the “marketing” suggested time between flights. Most airlines will allow a minimum time on connecting, but if you have any type of delay you may be transferred to the next flight on a standby status and again be stocked for hours even days. A good connecting time in most airports is one and a half hour. That can compensate for short delays. The best if you have time is 2 to 3 hours on international connections an one hour on domestic ones.

Well that is about all there is to say except that the more you wait to make your reservation the prices will be higher and availability be more limited.

Have a wonderful and safe vacation!

In a world where using others money is a daily practice what exactly is a secured account loan? Very simply put, one obtains a fixed rate loan. The loan is secured for one year and one day. The interests are paid every month and the capital at term.

The amount is normally in the hundreds of millions USD or even billions. The lending bank will agree to the terms and deposit the loan money in a secured non-signatory account. The borrower gets a second account where the interests will be paid from.

Now the good part, the secured account becomes part of the trader’s portfolio and is daily scanned for transactions. The trader issues a contract to the borrower with copy to the bank that the funds in the secured account will never be altered or remove and are one hundred percent secured.

For one year the trader is generating a return for the loan amount. The results are enough to generate the interest payments on the loan, a commission for the intermediary and a large amount to pay back the loan with a generous surplus.

The returns are set by contract with the usual restrictions about risk and the basic loan remains secured. The only way to end the process is to retrieve the funds from the secured account before or at term. But considering the returns, the practice shows a repeat of the process.

As I said, I did verify this protocol with a major bank and they did confirm it was a bank practice in association with privileged clients. Needless to say those clients are showing large assets and / or collateral. Most important, I was clearly told that although I was well informed on the protocol I would not be able to get that type of loan. In clear I am not, yet, in there sand box.

Not being able to participate I lost real good opportunities but being in direct contact with the trader allows me to think I will someday serve as the intermediary. Why would one need an intermediary and who would that be? Quite simply because one needs to be introduced to the trader unless like the CEO you have a privileged relation with your bank. But the bank must have in turn a privileged relation with a trader in that protocol. Not all have and not all like the idea of there client make more money then they do.

Did you know about that protocol?
This one allows you to invest as little as 2$

More and more hotels are asked to be eco-responsible and there is a trend emerging where tourism is based on the travelers acting responsibly as they look for vacation deals. Unfortunately for many and for the industry, the most non-eco responsible vacation deals now days is the all inclusive. Why exactly is an easy way of having a vacation deal so much non eco-responsible? Well according to the new experts the packages being in a very competitive market airlines, hotels and the food industries are forced to cut all they can to keep up.

But from what I ear, more a more hotel chains are being asked by there customers to act responsibly. These requests are apparently coming from convention members, who are a large part of the clients. Therefore, we should see an improvement in that field and more vacation deals following that trend.

As for airlines, who do get the biggest part of the money from a package, they contribute to the pollution and there only way to cut on expenses are in maintenance, food and services. With such options, the pollution is increased, the food is terrible and the services is going down. We will see in the future less energy consuming engines, better personal management and certainly a way of offering better food. Never the less until then they know you need to fly to get you favorite vacation deals unless on you have a year to walk to your destination.

Well this is about all I have today to initiate some discussion on the subject of eco-vacation deals. Let us know what you think! Get vacation deals!

Where will you take your next vacation?

Remember last month I said I’d make my own package. You know what I find difficult? Well quite simply is to decide on where to go in the area I decided to go. I am looking in to going a week in the sun of the Mediterranean islands; Sardinia, Corsica, Ischia? Since I speak french English a little Spanish and I got an Italian course about any of those place will make me comfortable.

All places where the sun is great, the hotels are all picturesque, luxurious and warm. Again remembering the eco trend, price should be a criteria but that is according to a budget. Mine is around 3 stars, a close by beach and nice surrounding with restaurants.

So again I did the exercise in the cost of all that self elaborated vacation deal and it still is within my budget. Among the advantages are the variety of food, the multiplicity of things to visit and the possibilities to discover and meet new people. Talking of that, my second week will be in Rome! There I still have to look for a place to stay. The travel deals in large towns may be more costly but if you look well you will find what you need.
